The Western Plains Christian Convention has a long history of bringing Christians from the Central West together to hear and be challenged by the Bible.
In 1980, Steve Adams began the Wellington Christian Education Workshops, meeting in the library of the local high school. Groups ranging from 20 to 30 people would gather, three times a year, to learn about a range of topics. The biggest gathering was over 150 people!
In 1991, the workshops headed west to Dubbo to become the Western Plains Christian Workshops, and not long after changed to an annual convention.
In 2018 the WPCC committee invited Dubbo Presbyterian Church to take over organisation of the convention to save on insurance and licensing costs.
Since then it has been run as a ministry under the umbrella of DPC.During this time, we've benefited from the support of many groups in the delivery of our program such as SMBC, Quizworx and local churches. The Western Plains Christian Convention has changed and grown, but we continue to come together from across the Western Plains to be encouraged by God's word.
