What is the Youth Equip Day?
Our last Western Plains Christian Youth Convention was held in 2018. In 2019 we decided to take a bus to KYCK instead which was a great success! (We are doing it again this year – still 15 tickets left if you’d like to jump on board. – CLICK HERE)
While KYCK has been great for our youth, we’ve lost the training aspect for local youth leaders. Each year at youth convention 10-20 youth leaders would gather together for training sessions over the weekend for a valuable time if training, prayer and encouragement. It is with this in mind that we are launching our first ever Western Plains Christian Convention Youth Equip day. The aim is simple: to encourage and train youth and children’s workers from around the central and far west New South Wales.
WHO?
The YOUTH EQUIP day is for anyone currently involved in youth ministry, kids church, SRE, or anyone wanting to be involved in these ministries. It is also open for senior high school students in year 11 and 12 who would like to be trained. If that’s you, we’d love you to join us.
WHAT?
It will start on Friday night with a combined dinner then music and Bible input. You’ll need to organise your own accomodation Friday night. It’s the long weekend so get in early. We may be able to organise billeting if that’s something people would find helpful
Then there will be 3 aspects to Saturday:
1. Preaching. There will be 2 Bible talks ( one on Friday night one on Saturday) aiming to encourage you.
2. Small Strand Groups. These smaller groups will take you through an area of understanding the Bible, for example how to understand the a new Testament passage, how to understand the overall story of the Bible, etc. This strand group will change each year so that if you come back there will be different training focussing on a different area of understanding the Bible. In this first year we are doing how to teach from a NT passage.
3. Workshops/ electives. There will also be 2 electives where you can choose from a specific ministry area that you’d like to be trained in, like help with sourcing curriculum for kids church, youth evangelism ideas, you will be able to choose electives based on your area of ministry.
